The Madness of Sin

"You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me." Exodus 20: 5-6

Today sermon was on 2 Kings 9. It's divided into 3 parts with 3 different lessons learnt!

1. The sudden madness in Jehu's anointing: Jehu was anointed as King of Israel, through a young prophet, to defeat his masters, the evil king and the rest of the evil people. They knew about God's existance, and his law and words, but they refused to follow it, instead, they worship other Idols.

Lesson learnt: Fellow Christians knew about the convenant of God and all his laws, but it's always due to "busyness" in their daily work/school that they put God away. In time, they followed other God or just stay away from God to lead their own life.

2.The stunning madness of Joram's Assasination: Joram was one of the guy that worship other God. He was the king of Israel. He sent one horseman after the other to ask Jehu whether he approached them with the army "in peace", but Jehu just replied, "What do u have to do with peace? Fall in behind me.", and e horsemen followed. At least they knew that danger is approaching, unlike the 2 kings who approached Jehu in the end and died in his hands.

Lesson learnt: Wait patiently for God's timing. He would deal with each and everyone's sin unless they repent. He's willing to give many chances for the time of repentance to come, but once the chances are all used up, he'll deal with everyone's sin.

3.The stubborn madness in Jezebel's antagonism: Jezebel's time of death is nearing, yet instead of fleeing after seeing so many deaths including that of her father, she "painted her eyes and arranged her hair" n even antagonise Jehu when she saw him. Hmm.. of cos... she died, v horrifiedly. She's being thrown down the window by her 3 eunuchs and her body hit the wall n fall to the ground. Then the horse trampled her and she was devoured by dogs and it only left her hand, legs and skull. Eh.. i don't know alot about the story of Jezebel as it's my first time encounting this name. Jus got to know that she killed alot of servants.. and she's not a good person.

Lesson learnt: Stubborness and pride can shut u out from the grace of God, so we should not let those take control of us. We should constantly put God as first priority, and humble, correct and judge ourselves before we judge others.

Conclusion: Come back to God, and put him as first priority when u encountered problems or when u're having an extreme fulfilling life. Repent when u knew u've sinned. God would forgive us for our mistakes if we repent and not be stubborn. N remember, what we do would be accountable for more of our generation to come.
