The House

A young woman's dream, an old man's gift, and the surprises that awaits us behind every closed door...

I've just finished reading the above titled book written by Danielle Steel. The main story circles around The House, but what brought across me is the path went through by the main character, Sarah.

I started reading this book in the beginning of May, and as i read on, i felt as if the story is telling me something. Something about my life. Sarah was a lawyer who works long hours. She had a weekend bf who's only there for her in the weekend, eventhough they stayed near one another. They were together for 4 years, but the guy never go beyond the weekend boundary. Everytime when Sarah gets mad at him, he can easily sweep her off her feet with sweet words and his great body n look. Sarah held on to the relationship, holding on to the hope and not wanting to get back loneliness before him.

Something changed when her client died, and left her some money. He also left behind his house for his heirs, which she bought in the end due to the memories it holds. The house once belonged to her great grandmother. (Shun talk about that part). In the hope to restore the house as it was, she hired an architect, Jeff. He was initially attached to a hot-tempered lady for 14 years. Everything bout them was pure friendship. They talk, chat and work together to restore the house. They painted and shared, but at the same time, not going over the boundary of friendship.

One day, when she wanted to surprise her bf, she caught him sleeping with another ger instead. She left him and shut him out totally. After a long long time after that, expectedly, Jeff's gf also left him. Their character mismatch, plus her attachment to her own country, France, instead of US.

The friendship remains as friendship for some time, but not long, also expectedly, they started dating. They went slowly. And expectedly again, it was a happy ending. She found what she's looking for, n he too.

Time doesn't matter. Passion can overtake a person easily.Sigh.. At times i mind bout darling's relationship with his ex. A 4 yrs relationship. At times i even worry that darling would start comparing me with her. But not sure whether my worries are just excessive, nothing's gonna change between us ba.. i really hope so. wished for a happy ending just like the story.

No one knows the future, except God. But as long as both have the intention to look forward to their future together, and to overcome all obstacles along the way, a happy ending will be realistic and near.
